Team Members and Staff

TEAM MEMBERS

Peckham Team Members are individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Team members receive paid job training and other services across Peckham’s five social enterprises. Team members can also participate in programs to help them transition into other community jobs.

Each team member receives a Vocational Service Specialist who provides on-the-job support, coaching and skills training to help them find and keep employment. In addition, Team Members can participate in many programs, services and community resources to achieve their personal and professional goals.

STAFF

Peckham Staff are individuals who directly support operations and assist Peckham Team Members – individuals receiving paid job training and other services as a part of Peckham’s mission. We offer diverse career opportunities across five social enterprises, as well as careers in human services, administration, IT, human resources, management, and more. Staff not only facilitate, but also can participate in various opportunities, helping them achieve their own personal and professional goals.

LANSING, MI – After receiving $2 million in federal funding, Peckham vows to use the money to keep young people out of jail by providing job training, violence prevention training, a mentor and an education.

Peckham Lands $2 million federal grant 

LANSING, MI – Peckham’s Youth Services Program is one of 13 organizations across the country that have been awarded the Growth Opportunities grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.   • What is the difference between a staff member and a team member?

    Team members are people with disabilities and other barriers to employment who are participating in paid job training as a part of their vocational rehabilitation. Team members also receive a Vocational Support Specialist and other resources to help them achieve their work goals.

    A person with a qualifying disability interested in overcoming barriers to employment can apply for any open team member position.

    Staff members play a vital role in directly supporting team members participating in the paid job training program through various administrative, operational and human service roles.

    Staff may or may not have a disability, and do not receive a Vocational Support Specialist.

  • Are there opportunities for professional development and career growth?

    Peckham offers training and development opportunities internally and tuition reimbursement (capped at the maximum allowable limit under IRS). We also offer professional development funding to encourage and support continued education.

    The Gold Education Scholarship is provided to Peckham team members, staff, and their family members in partnership with Davenport University and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). This opportunity was made available to our Peckham community as part of our Gold Level Employer certification from MVAA and provides access to higher education learning opportunities at Davenport University’s in-person and online campuses.

    Peckham also supports other staff learning opportunities including certifications, trainings, professional memberships and more.
